There are 24 IRONMAN Arizona spots up for grabs at the Subaru Peterborough Half Iron distance event!
Located
in Beavermead Park, the Peterborough Half Iron venue is truly amazing
for both the athletes and the spectators. The course offers a 2 loop
swim course in a quiet small lake (Little Lake). An out and back bike
course with rolling terrain and a smoothly paved road. Depending on your
strengths, the run can be challenging with an out and back down Crowley
Line. The run is net uphill going out and net downhill coming back to
the transition area.
Ironman Arizona is historically one of the fastest
IRONMAN events to sell out. One of the only ways left to get a spot is to come
and qualify at the Subaru Peterborough Half Iron Distance Event!
This is an awesome opportunity for those hoping to
participate in a late season IRONMAN. Train all summer long with the Subaru
Series and head to Arizona for November 17th!
The inaugural IRONMAN Arizona was held on April 9, 2005. In cooperation with the City of Tempe and the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, the race quickly gained popularity. It offered a fast and flat course, and a spectator-friendly atmosphere in and around Tempe Beach Park and Tempe Town Lake. Given the desert heat, the race was moved to a much cooler November race date in 2008.
IRONMAN Arizona kicks off with a single-loop swim in Tempe Town Lake, followed by a challenging three-loop bike course through the Sonoran Desert. It finishes with a spectator-friendly run around Tempe Town Lake and Papago Park. There are 50 qualifying slots for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI.
